Florence is preparing to welcome an unprecedented experience: from 15 May 2026, the birthplace of Dante Alighieri will host INFERNO, an immersive digital exhibition dedicated to the first cantica of one of the greatest masterpieces of world literature.
Firenze si prepara ad accogliere un'esperienza senza precedenti: dal 15 Maggio 2026, la città natale di Dante Alighieri ospiterà INFERNO, una mostra digitale immersiva dedicata alla prima cantica di uno dei più grandi capolavori della letteratura mondiale.
Through spectacular digital animations, visitors will be transported into the depths of Dante's Inferno, following the Supreme Poet and Virgil on an extraordinary journey through the nine circles of the afterlife.

Enter the Dark Wood where Dante's journey begins. An immersive threshold between the living world and the realm of the dead, where the straight path is lost. Shadow and sound prepare the mind for what lies ahead.

A hypnotic installation of infinite reflections where the boundaries between reality and vision dissolve. Dante's verses echo in light and form around you.

The centrepiece of the exhibition. Spectacular digital animations envelop visitors on all sides — walls, floor, ceiling — in the full spectacle of Dante's nine circles. Each circle unfolds with its own visual language, music, and poetry.

Historic choir spaces opened to the public for the first time. A privileged, intimate encounter with Dante's most profound verses in a space of centuries-old stone and silence.

Descend into the underground crypt — ordinarily closed to the public, carved beneath the medieval church. Interactive digital installations fill the vaulted stone space. Touch-sensitive surfaces reveal hidden verses.

Put on the headset and descend through the circles in full virtual reality. Stand beside Dante and Virgil as they meet the damned.

The Cattedrale dell'Immagine is housed in the deconsecrated church of Santo Stefano al Ponte — a medieval treasure steps from the Ponte Vecchio. Since 2015, this ancient space has been Italy's first permanent home for large-scale immersive art.
